Rachel is a landscape architect by profession and her early works concentrate on landscapes, but living in an increasingly urban Lewisham she has become fascinated by the every day, old, and often neglected shop fronts, and their over-looked details and beauty; almost as an archival responsibility she has spent many years bringing back the detail and information which we daily passed by, and which in most cases is gone forever.
As a tonic to the technical nature of her shop fronts, she works also with dry point on perspex, with unique monotypes. Here she has returned to her expressive landscapes and created a series of allotment prints.
Rachel has also run art workshops with school groups, focussing on opportunities for children to look at the wider world, and the nature on their doorstep.
